![]() Gustavo Machado Gallardo México D. F. 1947 Machado’s history comes from a family with the artistic vein: his father, Fernando Machado who was a comic sketcher, encouraged him in a determinant manner. When he was eight he received a gift from his father: it was his first painting set which he started with and eventually and step by step showed his gifted way of painting. He graduated as graphic designer in the Escuela Libre de Arte y Publicidad (Art and Publicity Free School) where he discovered his skillful ability to paint to later on be invited by his masters to take private painting classes with Master Jose Chavez Huacuja and watercolor classes with Master Gustavo Alanis. Several years later he is introduced into the engraving field when he started taking classes with Master Enrique Cattaneo. In 1971 he exhibits for the first time. This was an event that leaded to a series of other collective and individual exhibitions which put him in the arts map. As of today he has participated in over 25 individual and over other 40 collective exhibitions, both in Mexico and all over the world events. In 2001 he is rewarded with the fourth place in the painting category achieving the “Lorenzo el Magnifico” Award at the III Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy, opening with it the window into the European market where this artist’s multicolored, full of vigorous lines work, is currently being embraced. A year later, in 2002, he is distinguished with an Honorary Mention in Paris, France at the I Triennial of Contemporary Art. Machado’s work has gone beyond the boundaries of Mexico in several exhibitions and private collections currently located in the United States of North America, Canada, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia.
